We had already installed two of the total of five modular buildings, they comprise the bar, lobby and some office areas, total about 4300 square feet total. They were driven down the highway between 12Midnight and 4 AM, never more than two per night. The longest ones are 68 feet long (the legal maximum) and they are all 13 feet tall, (the legal maximum). We craned them into position using Ness Crane’s largest moveable crane, 550 ton capacity.

Here we are placing the next set of buildings.

A major milestone was reached today on the Teatro ZinZanni construction site as the first modular units were craned into place. Working with Bellingham-based construction company, Transform who fabricated the custom-designed units, Teatro ZinZanni crews craned into position several key corner units (box office, kitchen, lobby). Once all the units are secured, the spiegeltent will be dismantled over at the Belltown site and re-erected in the center of the square; the connecting construction will unite the entire building surrounding the tent.

Sneak Peek into the Lobby of Your Dreams

Louise DiLenge, Teatro ZinZanni’s chief designer, is our secret weapon. Somehow in all her costume designs she makes it easy to be sexy and silly at the same time. Certainly with her all encompassing vision for TZ, she makes everything invite you to have a good time.

For the new lobby of the tent when we move to Mercer Street, Louise has been busy thinking about stars and crowns, spirals and sparkles, secret rendez-vous nooks and mesh curtains set with faceted jewels, loopy Venetian plaster and crystal chandeliers.

And murals.

She needs to make sure that as soon as you enter the lobby you’re absolutely enchanted, but even more importantly, as soon as you enter the tent, you’re truly transported into the nightclub of your dreams.

Working with San Francisco based scenic painter Letty Samonte, Louise has created two new murals that will grace either side of the tent’s entrance from the lobby.

Here’s a sneak peek at the color renderings.

What Not to Wear on the job site…

stevegravel.jpg

Steve Quinn, Teatro ZinZanni’s site development manager, is modeling gray clothing on a gray gravel background while the bull dozers play. What a great way to get a thin layer of Steve squished all over the site!

Note to Steve: in the future, wear an orange shirt…..
