2009 – A TZ Year in Pictures

The Year 2009 will be remembered as a notoriously historic year. What a wild ride the economy took us all on! In spite of the Recession, things were jumping here at the tent. In fact, we took the Economic Challenge as an opportunity to try out a couple of new ideas – Brunch, Latin Dance Nights, MirrorTent Music, and many more!

The year started with an invasion of gypsies with show Under the Gypsy Moon featuring the incomparable Blue Legend Duffy Bishop and comedian Geoff Hoyle. In the spring, we launched our first-ever Brunch shows!

Geoff Hoyle debuted his new character Red Bottoms. Under the Gypsy Moon is currently playing at our sister tent in San Francisco.

TZ Waitstaff Captain Brett Nugent was invited to Olympia to participate in Tourism Day in April as an Official Tourism Ambassador.

Brett schmoozed with Governor Gregoire while rallying for tourism support.

Nearly 400 Young Arts Patrons flooded the tent in May as we hosted the Spring Arts Fling. Area arts organizations including the 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Rep, Seattle Opera, Pacific Northwest Ballet, The Village Theatre, Intiman Theatre and Teatro ZinZanni were represented at this all out arts bash!

Local aerialists Duo Madrona wowed the crowd of spectators at The Spring Arts Fling.

At the end of May, we were also honored to be a part of a Make A Wish celebration for a special little girl named Grace.

The ZinZanni cast and crew surprised Grace at the Space Needle by making her "Fairy Tale Dream" come true.

In June, we created a brand new show, Bottega ZinZanni, which embraced the world of Fashion. Working with local fashion designer Luly Yang Couture, Bottega ZinZanni featured 13 original designs aptly strutted out on our catwalk.

Norman Durkee, Rachel Deshon, Luly Yang and Norm Langill share a moment on the final night of Bottega ZinZanni.

Chef Caesar (Frank Ferrante) returned to the tent in Bottega ZinZanni and danced the night away with one lucky patron every night.

Frank Ferrante & Liliane Montevecchi co-starred in Bottega ZinZanni - All Dressed Up with Someplace to Go, June 25 through October 11, 2009.

Bottega ZinZanni also starred the amazing, the legendary and the elegant Liliane Montevecchi. In her second Seattle run, La Montevecchi played the role of Dina Monte, a legendary Parisian fashion designer who believes that fashion is how you tell the world who you are. “Fashion is not something you put on, darling, but a lifestyle! Everybody can be fabulous!”

We launched Latin Dance Nights back in July and ripped the roof off the tent with the sizzling sounds of hot salsa.

Seattle Latin Dance's Becka Hueth and Teatro ZinZanni's Mickael Bajazet lead dancers in a free lesson prior to the band starting. Latin Dance Night returns to the spiegeltent January 5, 2010.

Summer was rocking at Teatro ZinZanni as we took the streets for the first time in the Seattle Pride and Torchlight Parades.

The Teatro ZinZanni crew had a fantastic time marching to the beat of their own drum in the Seattle Pride Parade.

Our four-weeks of Camp ZinZanni was an amazing success with over 300 campers learning the fine arts of clowning from the best.

ZinZanni cast and crew worked with potential campers at the Giant Magnet festival.

"Clown Crash Coursers" parade through the tent.

On September 16, Teatro ZinZanni and Stone Gossard produced a special evening of MirrorTent Music with The HankKhoir, featuring vocalists Vince Mira, Shawn Smith, Pete Droge, Barb Ireland, Dejha Colantuono, Elaine Summers, Lonnie Marshall, Scribes and  Stone Gossard. Teatro ZinZanni’s own Hans Teuber did all the musical arrangements. AND the evening included Seattle Instrumental Giants Keith Lowe, Branden Harper, BeanOne, D’Vonne Lewis, Jeff Fielder, Regan Hagar, Skerik and Steve Moore.

Stone Gossard and pals held an amazing jam session for 285 of our closest friends.

Original chanteuse and power-house rocker Ann Wilson came back for one night only on November 1 as we celebrated our 10th (or 11th) Anniversary with our first-ever gala to benefit ZICA (and we raised over $75,000).

Ann Wilson brought the house down at our ZinZanniversary celebration!

On December 31, we wrap up the year with a special New Years Eve celebration featuring Christine Deaver, Kevin Kent and the cast of Beaumount & Caswell.

Beaumount & Caswell wraps up its run on January 17th.

Thank you for being part of our Teatro ZinZanni family in 2009 we look forward to a 2010 filled with Love, Chaos and Dinner!
