“The impression a Joey Arias performance leaves on your psyche is like the impression the sun makes on your eyeballs—blink all you want, it’s never going away. He crackles with dark electricity and sings like Billie Holiday and radiates enigmatic sexuality.”

– Christopher Frizzlle, The Stranger

With Performances By:

Terry Crane:  Having languished long enough in higher education, Terry Crane finally surrendered to restless urges that lead him to walk calmly away with the circus at the tender age of 20. Since then, his thirst for movement and performance mentoring has been a zigzag constellation of off the beaten path destinations, taking him to the San Francisco Circus Center, Montreal’s National Circus School (of Cirque du Soleil fame), and the Beijing International Acrobatics School. He has now performed in countless countries, on 3 continents. Terry is a longtime practitioner of capoeira, contact improvisation, hip hop dance, physical theater, and tree climbing. He infuses his work with these influences as well as his own fiercely unique style. Terry loves the sublime experience of circus performance, and daring to reach across the fourth wall to share with all his audiences.

Vivian Tam was born in West Covina, CA. As a reward for good grades and a year of minimal pranks pulled on her 3 sisters, she would be taken to see the circus that would travel to the local mall every year. Years later, with dreams of dazzling still greatly present, she would begin beef cake training at Hollywood Aerial Arts with Sagiv Benyamin. Previous confirmed sightings of Vivian dangling in Seattle include the Moisture Festival and at Teatro Zinzanni’s Mezzo Lunatico. She has performed internationally with the Aerialistas, under the artistic direction of Lara Paxton. Vivian is an aerial and flying trapeze instructor at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts in Seattle and also instructs at Knotty Yoga in Redmond. Vivian is fueled by her family, friends, mentors, and cake.

Reed Nakayama is an acrobat and multi-media artist currently living in Seattle. Originally from Denver, CO, he grew up performing (both on and offstage) in Theater, Dance, and Circus. He has been training on the Chinese Pole for the last 3 years under the tutelage of internationally renown performers such as Domitil Aillot (Les Petites Frères) and Sandra Feusi (Vertical Tango).

Tana the Tattooed Lady got her professional start in burlesque at the beginning of the last decade as one of the original Atomic Bombshells out of Seattle, Washington. She has performed at Miss Exotic World Competition, N.Y. Burlesque Fest and Tease-O-Rama featuring Cirque Du Soleil. Tana is an internationally celebrated burlesque dancer, singer and pin up model.  She held the Miss Oktoberfest crown for 4 years in a row!  In 2010 she was voted Portland Pin Up Girl of the Year.

The Luminous Pariah is a Seattle-based internationally recognized burlesque ingénue who celebrates life through multidisciplinary performance art.  Described as a  brilliant mélange of saucy satire, witty comedy, avant garde artistry, and tantalizing tease. Mr. Pariah draws upon his extensive background in physical theatre and dance to bring you inspirational showcases that are designed to celebrate the thrilling highs and questionable lows of the kooky world we live in.

JustinCredible has been involved in a circus performance of Petrushka by Stravinsky, a performance during Sustainable Connections meeting of minds at Western Washington University, a circus show at Oregon Country Fair, month long circus tour with New Old Time Chautauqua in Alaska, and performed at the esteemed Lincoln Theater in Mt. Vernon, WA. All of this and much more has paved the way for Justin Credible’s impending future of fame in the circus. He is now building an army of clowns and performers from the Northwest to take on the road with his enormous little tent and spread the word of a better life for people, filled with laughter.

JustinCredible brings you circus sideshow acts that you’ve only seen in black and white. They are the tricks that you didn’t know the human body was capable of performing. JustinCredible is a anatomy lesson taught by Salvadore Dali under a circus tent. He’ll leave you talking about what you’ve seen for weeks.

Jason Quick is a Single-Handed Variety Show performing and speaking for all kinds of event around the Pacific Northwest.  He also teaches Circus Arts and enjoys creating Community Art Projects with groups of children. Jason lives in Bellingham, WA.

Jason has been juggling for schools, libraries, festivals, and other public and private events around Washington for the last 15 years.  These shows bring up big questions but they are mostly about finding joy in whatever you do and sharing that joy with everyone.  There is a playful quality to these performances that makes them fun for Jason as well as the audience.  Juggling bowling balls is Jason’s symbolic way of tackling the impossible to set an example for those who watch.   Now, Jason is expanding his performance focus to include a wider range of audiences around the Northwest and across the country.

Septemberfest, Why Wait Until October

Poster by Korum BischoffWhy wait until October to celebrate Oktoberfest?  Our favorite fierce mistress, Manuela Horn, is back for an all-new late night experience: Septemberfest!  We like to think of it as a sudsy kick-off to the 17-day beer-stravaganza.

Oktoberfest fun fact: Only beer conforming to the Reinheitsgebot, at a minimum of 12.5% Stammwürze (approximately 6% alcohol) may be served at the Munich Oktoberfest.

We will be serving all kinds, so don’t hold us to those rigorous standards.

You might wonder what to expect from a Bavarian themed show that doesn’t begin until 11:30 PM and features a yodeling dominatrix. Drinking, singing, and more drinking.  Still need more? Watch Manuela in all her glory here!

Waving Our Flag All Over The Place

If we had a flag to wave all over the place, it would be rainbow-colored (like the flag above) and we would let it fly with reckless abandon.  After last weekend’s Pride Fest 2012, that flag would be worn out from all the reckless waving we put it through.  Did you see us emcee or performing on various stages at the Seattle Center during the Pride festivities?  Oh good, please send us photos.  We fell into a multicolored time vortex and neglected to capture anything on camera.  We blame all the scintillating eye candy, feathers, and glitter for distracting us.

We love Pride and everything it stands.  It gives everyone here at the velvet-topped tent goosebumps being surrounded by such a loving and supportive community.  To keep that warm, happy feeling through the chilly, damp June in Seattle (and wave our flag a little longer), we are proud to offer a special Pride rate of $25 off Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday evening performances of Gangsters of Love, throughout the month of July.  Call our wonderful Box Office at (206)802-0015 and ask for the “Pride” rate.

And to keep that warm glow that only Pride can give you burning bright, we are throwing a post-pride party of theatrical proportions!  Why this weekend, June 30th,  DeLouRue Presents: Fancy Schmancy!!!  For one night only Teatro ZinZanni becomes CLUB ZINZANNI for a booty-shaking extravaganza sure to bring the tent down (because of all the shaking, get it)!  Stellar performance lineup to include: DJ Nark, Dance Belt USA, BenDeLaCreme, Kitten LaRue, Lou Henry Hoover, Cherdonna Shinatra, and hot go-go boys and gurrrls. And just announced, the lovely, talented and vivacious Dreya Weber will be joining this cavalcade of stars. 21 & up only.  Leave the kiddies at home and come get your swerve on until dawn (okay, not dawn more like 1:30 AM).
